The Jimmy John’s Kickin’ Ranch is tangy, creamy, and has the perfect amount of kick! It is the perfect sauce to use for homemade sandwiches.
I am a huge fan of sandwich and sub shops. I am always making copycat recipes from popular restaurants such as Jersey Mike’s, Subway, and Jimmy John’s.
Today, we are making the famous Kickin’ Ranch sauce from Jimmy John’s.
For a limited time, Jimmy John’s restaurants discontinued this sauce. I am not sure why. As a matter of fact, no one knows why since the sauce is so popular. However, Jimmy John’s fans voiced their frustrations and now, the cult favorite sauce is a permanent addition to the menu.
Now, you can make this popular sauce at home! The best part is that this recipe takes less than 10 minutes.
Why You’ll Love This Copycat Jimmy John’s Kickin Ranch
- Tastes exactly like Jimmy John’s famous sauce
- You need a few simple ingredients.
- Smooth texture perfect for sandwiches
- No buttermilk needed (unlike the other copycat recipes)
- Quick!!! Make this in less than 10 minutes
Homemade Kickin Ranch Ingredients

- Milk and Vinegar: No need to run to the store and buy buttermilk. The milk and vinegar mixture is a DIY buttermilk. It tastes the same, and I can’t notice a difference.
- Mayonnaise: Any mayonnaise will do. If you want to make mayonnaise, try this Subway’s Mayonnaise copycat recipe.
- Ranch Dressing Mix: Make sure to use the Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning packet. A former Jimmy John’s employee revealed that this is the seasoning that Jimmy John’s uses.
- Hot Cherry Peppers: Find these in the canned second. These small, colorful peppers add a sweetness and tang to the dressing.
- Garlic Powder and Salt: We don’t need a ton of extra seasoning since most of the flavor comes from the ranch dressing mix.

For A Spicier Sauce

If you are still looking for an extra spice factor, add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. This makes for one amazing flavor punch.
Add Extra Seasoning
Customize this sauce recipe by adding extra seasoning! Feel free to add onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and any seasoning of your choice.
Instead of the regular ranch seasoning, you can use jalapeño ranch seasoning. It will change the flavor profile but hey, the world is your oyster.

Refrigerate The Jimmy Johns Kickin Ranch Sauce
After you make the sauce, it is best to leave it in the refrigerator for an hour before eating. This helps infuse the flavors of the sauce together.
