I’m Xena Kai!

I love to research, plan, and investigate. I am a type-A perfectionist and go-getter.

I am a west coast girl living in Las Vegas, NV. I started cooking and baking a year ago simply to eat healthier. I was tired of eating premade foods loaded with preservatives and bad ingredients.

I learned how to cook quickly and pretty soon, my homemade food became so delicious that I only wanted to eat food that I cooked. Everything else (surprisingly) pales in comparison.

It wasn’t soon before I started to develop my own recipes. I didn’t realize I was making my own original recipes until MONTHS after I started doing it. I would share pictures of food I made and friends would ask for the recipe. However, I couldn’t easily share those recipes with them since they were all in my head.

I started Food Over Comfort to share those recipes with the world. I hope you get out of your comfort zone and cook something delicious.

Orlando, Florida. Before that, I lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco. California will always have my heart!

EDUCATION:
B.S. Computer Science, University of San Francisco; Summa Cum Laude.

WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE BECOMING A FOOD BLOGGER?
I was a glamour/import model for 12 years. I was on the cover of various glamour and car magazines.

During my time in San Francisco, I was a programming instructor and tutor. I was also a software developer. If I can teach people how to program, I can definitely teach you how to bake.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE INGREDIENT TO COOK WITH?
Flour. Just think about how amazing flour is. You can make just about anything with flour.
