Ingredients To Make Subway’s Mayo At Home
You only need five ingredients (plus an optional ingredient) to make this copycat recipe at home. What I love so much about this recipe is that the ingredients are common and easy to find.

You might already have the ingredients in your kitchen, which means no need to run to the grocery store.
The following ingredients are what you need to make homemade mayonnaise:
- Egg: Acts as an emulsifier by helping blend the oil and liquid.
- Mustard or Mustard Powder: Adds a subtle tanginess to the mayo.
- Red Wine Vinegar or White Vinegar: Added for flavor and to help emulsify the liquid with the oil.
- Sea Salt: Opt for sea salt instead of kosher salt.
- Oil: Use a neutral oil like avocado oil, vegetable oil, or peanut oil. You can also use olive oil, which adds an olive taste to the final product.
- Lemon Juice (optional): The citrus adds a nice brightness to the mayo.
How To Make Homemade Subway Mayo
Step 1
Add all the ingredients into a tall, slender jar.

Step 2
Blend with an immersion blender until all of the ingredients are combined. You should end up with a smooth sauce.

Recipe Instructions for Food Processor
You don’t have an immersion blender? No problem! You can make this Subway copycat mayo in a food processor.
Step 1
Using the small bowl attachment of the food processor, add the egg and process for 20 seconds. Add the mustard, vinegar, and salt. Process for another 20 seconds.
Step 2
Scrape the sides of the small bowl. Then, turn the food processor on. Slowly add the oil into the bowl.
Be SLOW. Do not add too much at once. If you do, there is a chance that the mayonnaise will not immulsify.
Step 3
Once all of the oil has been added, taste the mayonnaise. Feel free to add more salt or lemon juice.
How To Store Homemade Mayonnaise
Put the mayo in an airtight container. Place in the fridge for up to five days.
After five days, I recommend making another batch. Since homemade mayonnaise doesn’t contain the preservatives that storebought mayo does, it does not last long in the fridge. However, do not worry! You can always make another batch.
