Instructions
In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the sugar, yeast and warm water. Let it sit for five minutes until foamy.
Add the all purpose flour, oil, and salt. Knead for 10 minutes until the dough is soft.
First Rise: Place the bread dough in an oiled container. Cover and let rise for one hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping & Second Rise: Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 6 even pieces (they should weigh roughly 112 grams each). Roll each piece into a ball then let sit covered for five minutes. This will relax the gluten and make it easier to roll into loaves. Afterward, roll each piece into a log that is 6 inches in length. Place onto your baking sheet. Cover and let rise for an additional hour or until doubled.
Preheat: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Position the oven rack in the center
Baking: Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown on the outside. The internal temp should be 195°F.
Let sit on a wire rack until ready to eat.

Make sure to let dough double during the first rise and second rise. If you do not, then the bread will be dense and not good for sandwiches or subs.
To store: This Jimmy John bread will last at room temperature for up to three days. If you need to store it for longer, put it in the refrigerator or freezer.
